Equipment

Telescopes and mounts

My main telescope now is a Meade 5000 triplet APO. It is providing my best images to date. It is far better than my old 10" Meade LX200GPS telescope.
I use a Skywatcher NEQ 6 Pro GOTO mount either on its tripod or my permanent pier in my back garden.

Cameras

My main astrophotography camera is the new Canon 60Da. My best images to date are coming from this camera. You can push the ISO settings up to 12800 but I generally operate on ISO 6400. An exposure of 30 seconds will generally reveal something you can work on.

My other camers include:

  • Canon 450D
  • Starlight Express SXV-H9
  • Meade DSI Pro II
  • Meade LPI
  • Toucam 9000
  • Logitech webcam (on loan)
