NGC2261, also known as Hubble's variable nebula (like the Hubble telescope itself) after the American astronomer Edwin P. Hubble,
who carrie dout some of the early studies of this celestial object. It is a fan shaped cloud of gas and dust which is illuminated by the
bright star at the bottom end of the nebula..

Facts about NGC2261 by Keith Turnecliff

There is probably a symettrical counterpart of the fan shpaed nebula on the southern side of the star, but it is heavily obscured
from view by dust lying between this lobe and our line of sight

This star chart for represents the view from Long Itchington in late January at 10pm.
