Sh2-101

Sh2-101 is a H II emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus. It is sometimes called the Tulip Nebula because when imaged photographically it appears to resemble the outline of a tulip.

It lies about 6,000 light years from Earth and it was catalgued by astronomer Stewart Sharpless in his 1959 catalogue of nebulae. .
